If there are two things a man should consider when purchasing and collecting items intended for his wardrobe, it’s that they should reflect his character and are products of quality that will provide comfort and stand the test of time.
We all have different ways in which we want to be perceived and the clothes we choose to put on play a definitive role in that. Like certain types of music reflect a genre, our style reflects our character. When it comes down to it, you don’t want to dress like someone or something you’re not. If you’re the reserved type, keeping a simple look should work just fine. Don’t overcompensate. A bold look and dull personality makes for a wrong impression, and vice versa. Keeping the balance is key. When people care enough about the image they hope to project, they’ll usually do the work it takes to find the proper garments to reflect that. Not to mention, within budget.
The desire for the finer things in life is no reason to plunge ourselves into the abysmal depths of debt. Clothing of great quality comes at a price a majority of us are not able to afford. Not yet, at least. However, this is not to say we can’t have the nice things we want. Not everything is made of cheap, transient material and not everything is made of the most expensive materials. Therefore, it is up to us to find that middle ground–stores and brands that offer durability and comfort in their goods, all at the same time. (This is where your interest piques should you hear of collaborations between brands such as Michael Bastian and Uniqlo, among others.)
We’ve heard “quality over quantity” preached everywhere by everyone but I believe the mantra should be taken a step further: “reasonability over impulsivity.” That is the mark of a consumer that knows where he stands financially and understands the conditions of when and when not to pull the trigger.
