In this first installment of Weekend Eats, Kevin Gray of Men’s Style Point takes us to Ted’s Bulletin for one of my favorite meals.
“I’m in love with breakfast food. And in a city known for its awesome brunches, my favorite foods are usually put away after the bottomless mimosas stop flowing. Luckily there’s a spot in DC that serves my favorite eats any time of day. That place, Ted’s Bulletin. Located at two opposite sides of the city and easily metro accessible (Eastern Market and U st. stations), Ted’s is the perfect eatery to slide through during your weekend stay in the nation’s capital.
The first time I stepped into Ted’s Bulletin on Capitol Hill, I fell in love with the décor when I saw that the menus were actual old school bulletins and the vintage antenna TVs played classics like Gone With the Wind and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. You’ll really feel like you’ve been jolted back into the 1950’s when you’re relaxing at the bar with a friend over their signature adult milkshakes. My favorite shake would have to be The Nutty Professor. Thank me later.
This is a great place to head for your breakfast needs, but also if you want to indulge your sweet tooth and grab a good old fashioned burger and fries as well. With a bakery placed right at the front of the store, you’re immediately graced with the aroma of their homemade pop-tarts, brownies and donuts. All three will make you immediately rethink your choice to load up on the Sloppiest Joe and fries or the Big Mark Breakfast.
Whether it’s heading in for a cup of coffee with your lady or a feast with the family, Ted’s Bulletin is a great spot to satisfy your taste buds without worrying about how your bank account is set up. If you see me in there, don’t bother me until I’m finished with my scrambled eggs.”
