For two young entrepreneurs, the heritage of old world craftsmanship met the pace of the contemporary landscape. Capturing the essence of refinement, this collaboration is a result of the connectivity that this digital age provides: “I found Masel Ties on social media,” says John Pantera, founder and chief designer at Jack Sartori. “We chatted and Skype’d and we hit it off immediately, despite the language and culture barriers. I was drawn to the brand because of their exquisite attention to detail. He [Luca Maselli] saw the ethos and dedication in mine. We both produce top quality goods for a higher end market so it just made sense.” With a commitment to a tailored aesthetic, their dialogue spawned three designs released last month in seasonally appropriate palettes with rich texture. “I sent him my sketches, he went to the Zegna mill personally to select the cashmere and got it to his production team in Como.” As with many luxury products, the sheer simplicity is refreshing. There is something to be said about the hand of the fabric and the choices in hue evoke the quintessential autumn transition. Good design is truly a melding of form and function, providing the sense of art while embedding utility. Handmade construction and impeccable stitching transmit that exceptional craftsmanship and the color spectrum is likewise a display of great taste. With another joint venture already in the works for Spring/Summer ’15, we’re looking forward to what this new tandem has in store.
