I remember when prescription glasses were ridiculously expensive! Warby Parker shook up the business world when it went direct to consumer, setting the standard across various industries, not to mention in its own category. Glasses have been a huge part of my life and (reluctantly) a part of my look for a long time. After finally settling on a frame shape (years of work might I add), I thought I’d found my color also. Now I get to rethink some things with Firmoo.
Tina and the team got in touch a little over two weeks ago and I already have my glasses in hand. The model is extremely efficient and easy to navigate. And unlike the limited selection of collaboration pieces and curated seasonal releases like Warby, Firmoo is adding to their range daily. As a low-cost, high turnover alternative to the normal optical supplier, Firmoo makes building a collection easy for anyone wanting to switch up their look on a regular basis.
I usually do tortoise shell but this burgundy pair caught my eye (pun unintended) as soon as I saw it. This shape is best to frame my face (and I matched up the sizing based on the details on the product page) and it was just about opening an account, choosing my preferred frame (they also have a try-on system if you’re on the fence or want to do something new), and then inputting my prescription information before checkout. The process was quick and relatively seamless.
The quality is fair for the price so again, having options is the most attractive feature. I can easily see myself replicating this in a range of colors and I think that’s a good thing. In even my most reserved tastes, I get to try something a tad bit new.
