In this golden era of television, online streaming services are pushing the envelop for what has been known to be conventional programming. What has been a staple for Netflix in recent years is now being embraced by companies alike.
Last night, Amazon debuted a special screening of their highly acclaimed original series The Man in the High Castle, based on Philip K. Dick’s award-winning novel of the same name. The series, which explores what it would be like if the Allied Powers had lost WWII, is incredibly captivating with its powerhouse cast and depiction of an alternate world.
I had the opportunity to attend the screening of the first two episodes yesterday at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, and the atmosphere was simply amazing. A flow of drinks and snacks prepared attendants for the 2-hour in-depth look into the historically fictional adaptation, and judging from the response of the audience at the end of the night, they left wanting more (at least I did!). The show does well to develop the characters and story in a timely fashion, thus leaving room for the main events to slowly unfold in the episodes to follow. The entire season will officially premiere on November 20, 2015 and will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime.
I couldn’t possibly think of a better way to finish the final quarter of the year than with yet another brilliant series unlike anything else that is currently on television.
